Feed My Starving Children Event May 9th & 10th

Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack - May 9th & 10th
If you're looking for a small service project with a big impact this
weekend, please check it out!
Two-hour shifts are available this Friday (May 9th) and Saturday (May 10th) to pack food at Evangel Church (2645 Broadway Ave N; where AHG Troop 100 meets) for Feed My Starving Children (ages 6 and older).

The link for this pack is below.
Remember to follow the guidelines for the adult to child ratio. This is not
an AHG sponsored event, but a great way to serve others as a family!

THANKS from Operation Minnesota Nice

Thank you and the American Heritage girls for their show of support to our troops with the baked goods and cards.  The troops truly love both of those items but more than that they love the support from home.

Teen MOPS Volunteer Opp TONIGHT!

Do you have some time free tonight? Teen MOPS (a group that AHG has helped in the past and is a ministry at Christ Community Church) is in need of volunteers tonight. This is one of the most well-attended nights with this group of girls and is a great ministry for a part of this world that really needs to see that people love them. A mom and daughter could do this together!
The first time we did a spa night at Teen MOPS I was washing their feet...and it really was just a moment because I knew the significance of it and they just talked and had a moment where someone cared for them. Help is needed at their SPA Night again and really...it isn't hard work and you don't need to be a professional in any way...you just need to really be able to show a smile. If you are interested in helping...here is a link with more details and what volunteer spots are still needed.

Thanks!

Oxbow Park & Zollman Zoo Service Opp May 17th

For all of you who love Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo, here's a great chance to
serve in your community...

Oxbow Zoo would appreciate it if AHG was willing to run the carnival games
at SpringFest.  AHG Troop 226's Explorers are working on devising the games.
They anticipate having 4-6 different games that will need to be manned.
Could you come and help?

AHG All Troop Service Project, Oxbow Parks SpringFest

*         When: May 17th 11am - 3pm

*         Where:  Oxbow Park, Byron

*         Doing What:  Girls will be manning several different carnival
games, like bean bag tosses, etc.  Shifts are in 1/2 hour slots but girls
are welcome to sign up for more than one shift.

*         Who:  This service is appropriate for Tenderheart 2s and up.
However families with children of all ages are invited to come and
experience all that SpringFest has to offer.

*         What to bring:  Sunscreen, hat, water bottle

*         No food will be allowed inside the zoo.  However, outside the zoo,
there will be food for sale, and people are welcome to picnic.

*         SpringFest funds are going toward building a natural playscape at
the park.

Please get in touch with Jessica Gisi at the AHG e-mail with your time slot preference to get signed
up. Each game needs about 4 girls, so contact your AHG friends first to get
in sync. =-) Our troop is joining the others, but we're offering this as a
'family activity'.  That means a parent needs to stay and watch/help
daughters therefore we're not lining up AHG Leaders to supervise the girls
in our troop. Since the shifts are 30 minutes long, we're guessing that
you'd stay anyway.

This is a great experience - let me know!

Service Night Coming Soon!

AHG!  Service Night is coming up soon and we have a great evening planned for you.  :)

Mark your calendars for Monday, April 7th at 6pm...and be sure to be on time!  We have a lot of stuff to do, a great speaker that will be sharing their story (which ties in to one of our service projects for the night) and many new projects to work on this year.

*I have been working on putting these projects together over the last few months and just have to tell you...I still get comments from Next Chapter Ministries about the notes and treats you made at our last service night.  You may not think you did much or that a little note or picture is a big deal...but all of you made a HUGE impact to kids that are your age who are living right here in Rochester.  Thank you for helping.  I can't wait to show you what is coming up and see the impact that you will make from our next Service Night!*

For those who participate in this service night, 1 hour can be added on your service log.

Next Chapter Ministries Service Opportunities

Are you looking for a way to help others out that live in the Rochester area?

At our last Service Night we introduced you to a group called Next Chapter Ministries.  This group is located in Rochester, MN and works with a variety of people in the area.  Our focus during our service night was to provide encouragement to the kids that are part of this program.

I recently heard from this ministry in town and they are wondering if you would like to help them!  Here are a few ways that you, a few friends or you and a parent can help:

  1. cleaning/organization in the kids area (organizing the game closet, cleaning out craft bins, straightening books, etc.).  That would probably take 1-2 hrs and you would come at a time when the kids aren't all here.
  2. The kids loved the treats AHG made before, so this would be a great thing to do again! :)  Or making fleece tie blankets would be another way to help this group, these are often given out as gifts and the kids love them.
  3. Come teach a craft to the kids during their Monday/Wednesday kids group.  For this to happen, it shouldn't be a big group of kids that would teach but about 4 to 7 would work well.
  4. A few girls could also just come to participate in the kids group for an evening to meet the kids and see how Next Chapter Ministries works with the youth.

If you are interested in helping with any of these opportunities, please contact Jessica W. at an AHG meeting or via e-mail at mominmn@gmail.com.
